Jan Prazak’s long-term observation documentary ON PROBATION is approaching the halfway mark of filming.

So far, the team has filmed client interviews, team meetings, a boxing match, and three court hearings — scenes that already begin to reveal just how nuanced and intimate this film will be.

It offers a close look at both the everyday challenges faced by people navigating life on probation, but also sheds light on the demanding and multifaceted work of the probation officers who support them.

Together with the involved social workers, director Jan Prazak continues to seek out new protagonists—with openness, patience, and a deep sense of respect for each individual’s unique life story.

We look forward to the encounters and insights that lie ahead – and to see how the film continues to grow, moment by moment.
